Short answer: Every three months suits many Singapore homes. Units running long hours daily may need it every one to two months; lightly used units every three to six months. Clean filters every 2 to 4 weeks, chemical wash every 6 to 12 months, and a chemical overhaul every 3 to 5 years.
The schedule

Why Singapore needs more than most places
Aircons here run most of the year in high humidity, which means more condensate through the drain line and more dirt carried onto the coil. That is why the drain line, the most common cause of leaks, needs flushing regularly.
Make it cheaper
Servicing plans cut the per-unit price: Helpling lists S$25 a unit one-off, S$20 on a one-year plan and S$17.50 on a two-year plan, with a 2-unit minimum (Helpling).

More questions
What happens if I skip servicing?
Dirt builds up on the filters, coil and drain line: weaker cooling, musty smells and, often, a leaking unit when the drain line blocks.
Can I clean the filters myself?
Yes. Slide them out, wash them, let them dry fully and refit. It is the single cheapest thing you can do for your aircon.
